Water/ Waste

The toilet is normally in the aft section of the cabin just aft of the cabin door. A curtain or an optional partition with a sliding door separates the passenger section from the toilet area.
Two types of toilets are on the King Air 90 Series aircraft: the standard chemical toilet (dry-chemical type), and the optional self-contained recirculating, flush-type electrical toilet.

DRY CHEMICAL TOILET

The chemical toilet is the standard dry-chemical type. Remove and empty the toilet after each period of use. Any approved dry chemical can be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. A stiff (nonmetallic) bristle brush, and a water and detergent solution can be used to clean the bowl.

While the chemical toilet is of the standard dry chemical type, the electrical toilets are self contained recirculating, flush type.

ELECTRICALTOILET

KOHLER-DAYTON®

The Kohler-Dayton® electrical toilet is flushed by pushing the button placarded PUSH, located on the top surface of the toilet. A 10-ampere circuit breaker on the right circuit breaker panel protects the circuit. The toilet is equipped with an electrical pump which flushes with a water and chemical solution. This solution is also used to dissolve the waste material. The toilet has a total capacity of 3.5 gallons and can be used approximately 35 times before requiring draining and recharging. A solid state timer, bolted to the top of the tank, regulates the flushing cycle to 9 seconds. The pump, motor, filter, and drain plug are in a single subassembly to facilitate removal for servicing.

SHERWOOD

The Sherwood electrical flush-type toilet is a dual compartment model. It is flushed by using the service switch on the surface of the toilet. A 10-ampere circuit breaker, located on the right circuit breaker panel, protects the circuit. The toilet is equipped with a motor-driven pump which flushes the toilet with a chemical solution. This chemical solution dissolves and deodorizes the waste material. The waste container is sealed when not in use and when removed for servicing. The recirculating pump is in the clean flushing reservoir. This eliminates the need for strainers since the bowl rinsing function is isolated from the sealed waste container. The waste container has a total capacity of 3 gallons and must be precharged with 0.25 gallon of water and chemical solution. The flushing container requires a charge of 2.5 quarts of water and chemical solution. A solid state timer on the top of the tank, regulates the flushing cycle for 8–14 seconds.

MONOGRAM

The Monogram is a low-profile, forwarding facing, electrical flush type toilet which is flushed by pressing and holding the button placarded PRESS TO FLUSH, on the cabinet top surface. A circuit breaker on the right circuit breaker panel protects the circuit. The toilet is equipped with a motor-driven pump which flushes the toilet with a water and chemical solution. This solution dissolves and deodorizes the waste material. The total tank usable capacity is 7 quarts and can be used approximately 10 times before servicing is required. The filter and tank are a single unit to facilitate removal for servicing.

Text Box: 38WATER/WASTELIMITATIONS

During extremely low temperatures, it is necessary to add a nonflammable automobile type antifreeze to the water/chemical mixture in the tank. A ratio of water-to-antifreeze comparable to that used for an automobile under similar conditions should be adequate.
