Lifting  and Shoring

JACKING

The aircraft has provisions for a three-point jack- pad system. Two pads are located on the center section rear spar inboard of each nacelle and one is near the aft edge of the nose wheel well, to the left of the fuselage center line. If all of the landing gear is to be raised off the ground, the fuel in the wings should be evenly distributed. It is permissible to jack the aircraft with a full fuel load.

CAUTION

When jacking individual wheels, use an automotive type jack with a lifting capacity  of at least  1/2 of the gross weight of the aircraft.

Jack points on each main and nose landing gear axle enable the individual raising of each wheel for changing tires or wheel brake repair

Text Box: 5-12 AIRCRAFT GENERAL HOISTING

The aircraft may be hoisted for maintenance or parts replacement. A minimum overhead clearance of 17 feet and a hoist of at least 10,000 pounds in capacity are required for hoisting. If it is necessary to hoist the aircraft with one or both engines removed, use a sling under the tail. The tail mooring hole can be used to hold the sling in position.
